C1023 Clark Railworks L&Y Class 21 Pug 'Bassett' Bottle Green Originally no. 19 when fresh from Horwich, this engine was an early escapee to private ownership. It was withdrawn from the LMS in 1931 and initially worked for construction company John Mowlem & Co (who named it ‘Bassett’) on a project to extend Southampton docks.
