This coupler features an NEM 363 European Style Coupler. The #53 Magne-Matic® NEM 363 European Style Coupler has three mounting options. It can be mounted in a factory NEM-363 pocket, it can be mounted using the Kadee® NEM 363 to NEM 362 Adapter in a NEM 362 pocket, or can be mounted using the Kadee® Bolt-on NEM 363 Adapter to a flat service on the underside of the loco or car. The height of the coupler can be easily adjusted to match the Kadee coupler height gauge by sliding the couple up or down in the dovetail slot. The excess mounting adapter can be trimmed away for a cleaner look.

It is not recommended to use a metal coupler directly on a metal surface or in a metal draft gearbox to avoid possible electrical crossover and shorting that may cause damage.
