76CT008 Oxford Diecast Citroen 2CV Dolly Blueberries & Cream

The iconic Citroen 2CV was a cult car manufactured between 1948 and 1990 and only ceased production because of the impending European emission standards due to come into force in 1992, thus affecting sales across its key markets in Europe.  However, during its long reign of over four decades of continuous manufacture, the 2CV sold over 3.8 million worldwide. Its simple construction was intentional; it was air cooled and with front wheel drive. 

The Dolly first entered production in 1986 and was an instant hit with female drivers, whose purchase amounted to a whopping 40% of production. The appeal included the highly popular two-tone mouth-watering colour combinations. Oxford has already released the ‘plum and custard’ version and now we have the equally attractive ‘blueberries and cream’.  Many of the other bright two tone colour schemes Citroen released have also appeared previously as Oxford Diecast miniatures.

Our model is registered D837 YUT from 1986, the year in which Citroen released both the Charleston and Dolly ‘specials’.   With its distinctive blue-black and cream paintwork, the exterior also features a cream ‘roll back’ sunroof and silver trim including the Citroen marque in the centre of the radiator grille. The interior dashboard and steering wheel are black and the seats are moulded in mouse grey.  The rear includes the 2CV6 Special detail, rounding off a delightful little model.
