We announce the release of a new exclusive commission from Bachmann Scenecraft of a Cornish Engine House.

Cornish engine houses are iconic structures that housed the steam beam engines used in the county's tin and copper mines, particularly during the 18th and 19th centuries. Built from local stone they were essential for pumping water out of the deep shafts and lifting cassiterite, a tin oxide mineral ore, to the surface.

The KMRC Exclusive Cornish Engine House is inspired by a model that regularly features in KMRC website images that has been scratch built by expert modeller, photographer and model journalist Chris Nevard, and features the engine house, chimney, beam engine and pit headstock.
