The Classic Mini is one of the iconic vehicles of the late 1950s and 1960s, launched in 1959 and created by Sir Alec Issigonis for Austin Motors. It was quite revolutionary for its time, being small, economical, easy to drive and at 10 ft long, parking was no problem. For the same reasons, the Mini remains a favourite even today, loved by celebrities, cult car enthusiasts and the everyday motorist.
Its launch in 1:120 scale replicates its larger Oxford predecessors in exact detail. Registered NLG 465B from 1964, our Austin Mini Cooper appears in bright red with a patriotic Union Flag masked red, white and blue on the roof. The external trim sees lots of chrome detailing to wheels, window surrounds, door handles, bumpers and headlight surrounds, as well as the Austin Cooper badge above the black and silver radiator grille. The interior is red with a black steering wheel.
It’s just great to see this nippy little British motoring icon popping back into the range again.
