This wagon is based on a promotional wagon built by the Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Company Limited to advertise their 5 plant, 8-ton wagons. 

The company was established in 1860 and remined in business until 1986. 

Alongside construction of new vehicles, the company also offered repair services and at one time had a hire fleet of more than 10,000 wagons which would be leased to companies and individuals.

The GRC&WC built vehicles for BR and London Transport along with items for export including wagons and coached.
