Humbrol Clear AC7431 is a thin clear acrylic varnish with a low Gloss Finish. Humbrol Clear goes on clear & dries clear. Modellers can achieve a higher gloss finish with Humbrol Clear varnish by applying further thin coats. Humbrol Clear can be applied with a brush or airbrush straight from bottle, and with carefully applied thin coats Humbrol Clear will self level on surface of the model. It is recommended to leave 15-30 minutes between coats of Humbrol Clear. If applied correctly there will be no reduction in surface detail. Humbrol Clear gives the perfect surface finish in which to apply the models markings. Humbrol Clear is also used as a further coat after the markings are applied & any residue cleaned away to seal & make any left over carrier film transparent giving the decals a truly painted on look. A coat of Humbrol Clear will also aid greatly in the application of washes, which will flow nicely over the gloss surface. As Humbrol Clear is a varnish it also acts as a protective layer of the paintwork underneath. If you would like to revert back to a matt finish a Humbrol acrylic matt varnish can be used with no adverse effects at all. Another impressive use of Humbrol Clear is that it will transform clear plastic model parts & make them look like real glass.
