These vans were the final derivative of the 10' wheelbase 12 Ton Standard B.R. Van with the addition of DOUBLE SLIDING DOORS giving a 9' door opening which was wide enough for palletised loads to be loaded. All batches were fitted with clasp brakes, oleo-pneumatic/hydraulic buffers and instanter couplings. Beginning in 1978 a NUMBER of "VAN WIDES" were converted to air brake and fitted with roller bearings and new suspension. Slater's intend to produce a conversion pack to cover the later type of suspension
