Hornby have today announced their new range for 2022. It includes a number of brand new tooled locomotives, rolling stock and a whole host of new liveries for existing models. Many new and re-livered locomotives will now include a 21 Pin DCC connection.

The highlights of the new tooled items in the 2022 Hornby range are summarised below.
New Locomotives
The standout new tooling is the LMS Black 5, the LMS Princes Royal Turbomotive and the Greater Anglia Class 755/3 'Flirt' multiple units.
An all new smoke and steam range sees R3991SS 60103 Flying Scotsman, R3983SS 2007 Prince of Wales and R30225SS Black 5 44726 fitted with a new generation of smoke generator, firebox flicker and DCC Sound Fitted.
All new tooling for the LMS Black 5 class of locomotives allows for a wide range of variation, including both Walschaerts and Caprotti valve gear, to cover large class of 842 Stanier Class 5 4-6-0s over their lifetime. The models will also feature lit lamps, firebox flicker, painted crew, kinetic loco to tender coupling and 21pin DCC ready.
The Turbomotive was a modified Princess Royal Class steam locomotive designed by William Stanier, inspired by the Ljungström locomotive, and built by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway in 1935. It used turbines instead of cylinders. It will be available in both LMS Crimson and BR Lined black.
Following on from the previously released Sentinel 0-4-0 industrial shunters the 2022 range sees the introduction of the larger 0-6-0 Sentinels in three livery options.
The newly introduced Greater Anglia Class 755/3 and Class 755/4 Swiss built Stadler 'Flirt' electric and bi-mode units are to be produced in two 3 car and two 4 car train packs.
The HST has been a staple in the Hornby range for many years and this years a further new tooling upgrade including a close coupling mechanism, dedicated fan motor, body improvements and improved lighting and 21 Pin DCC ready.
Keeping with the theme of higher speed trains new packs for 5 and 7 car APTs, Class 802/1 in GWR, Class 801/2 in LNER, Class 802/2 TPE Nova and Class 803 Lumo liveries.
The 2022 range sees the re-introduction of the Class 423 4-VEP EMU. With improved tooling being produced in Southern and South West Trains liveries.
A new version of the LNER W1 Class 'Hush Hush' this fitted with the smoke lifting cowl is added to the range.
A4s join the Hornby Dublo range
Following on from last years Die cast bodied Merchant Navy Locomotives in the Hornby Dublo range this sees the range expanded with a Royal Scot train set with BR Green Duchess of Montrose locomotive and two coaches with track, BR Blue Princes Coronation Class 46250 City of Lichfield, BR Green Merchant Navy class loco 35026 Lamport & Holt and two LNER A4 class locomotives 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley in BR Green and 4900 Gannet in LNER garter blue. All the Hornby Dublo models are Limited Editions of only 500 models.
Tri-ang Railways Remembered
Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Tri-ang sees two new Tri-ang Remembered branded trains sets R1284M RS48 The Victorian Train Set a GWR Lord of the Isles 4-4-0 and coaches with track and R1285M RS30 Crash Train Set a Midland Jinty with breakdown crane, jib carrier truck and coach with track.
New Coaching Stock
A brand new range of LNER Coronation articulated coaches including Brake Third / Kitchen third, Open Firsts, Open Third / Kitchen Third, Open Third / Brake Third and the iconic 'Beaver Tail' Observation Car.
To complement the newly retooled HST power cars the range of both slam door and sliding Mk3 coaches and a Mk4 also see tooling updates to include a close coupling mechanism.
Wagons
The new wagon tooling for 2022 sees the introduction of the GWR Loriot Y machinery well truck in both GWR and BR liveries.
The growing range of Liverpool and Manchester Railway model sees the introduction of wagon packs of coal wagons, sheep wagons and horse wagons.
Licenced Collectables
The staple range of Hornby collectable licenced projects continues with new items added to the Coca-Cola and The Beatles. New 'trains on Film' train packs including featuring the Liverpool and Manchester Railway 'Lion' and the also the new Railway Children film with a 4F are added to the range.
Skaledale buildings
The popular range of resin buildings is further extended with new South Eastern Railway station buildings, Victorian terraced houses, the Rose and Crown pub and Tunnel Portals, Platforms, Retaining Walls & Arched Viaducts.
