Rapido UK announce N gauge Conflat 'P' container wagon as used in the 'Condor' service.

Rapido Trains UK have announced that N gauge modelers will now be able to replicate one of BR’s most famous freight service with their new Conflat P wagons.

BR created 60 Diagram 1/60 Conflat Ps for the introduction of the Anglo-Scottish ‘Condor’ service in 1959 that was often hauled by a pair of Class 28 Co-Bo locomotives that Rapido have already announced (and we are advised that their tooling has now started).
They were rebuilt from Dia. 1/431 and 1/432 Plate wagons and were fitted with roller bearings and new suspension along with a central girder in order to carry one Type BD container as well as a Type A.
The Conflat Ps served on the Condor until 1964 when they were replaced with a batch of bogie wagons. All the redundant Conflat Ps were rebuilt as Timber Ps and were a common sight on timber traffic on the West Highland Railway until 1981.


To complement the new Conflat Ps, Rapido UK are also producing all-new 1:148 scale Dia. 3/050 Type BD and Dia. 3/001 Type A containers. These will initially be only available with the Conflat P but they plan to release these as separate accessories at a later date.

There are 15 individual Conflats Ps to choose from and three triple-packs.
