KMRC Skrifa - Product Focus - Dapol SR / BR(s) Maunsell Coaches in N Gauge

In this Skrifa post we focus on the Southern Railway Maunsell corridor coaches available from Dapol in N Gauge. 
This Mansell designed corridor coaching stock for the Southern Railway was first introduced in 1926. Although a number of pre-grouyping designed had been built by the Southern Railway to meet immendiate needs,  these were first coaches to be specifically designed and 'standardised' for the Southern Railway.
Like all Southern coaching stock these were formed into fixed Sets of varying lengths usually with a Brake Third (BTK) at each end with a combination of Thirds (TK), Composites (CK) or all First (FK) coaches between to make up the required Sets and seating numbers. Two coach sets would be formed of a Brake Third (BTK) paired to a Brake Composite (BCK). Trains would be formed using a number of shorter sets to make the required length and often on the Western Sections these trains would be split en route to serve the coastal branches often with a number of individual Brake Composites added for this purpose. 

Typical formations could be:
BCK-BTK 
BTK-CK-BTK
BTK-CK-CK-BTK
BTK-FK-TK-BTK
BTK-FK-TK-FK-BTK

From 1929 the design of the corridor side of the coaches was amended to include taller side windows so passengers did not have to duck to see out of them and these were known as 'High Window' stock, with the earlier versions unsurprisingly becoming known as 'Low Window' stock.Dapol have released a range of both low and high window Maunsell corridor coaches including Brake Thirds, Brake Composites, Thirds  and Firsts to enable a modeller to make a wide range of possible set combinations. So far the Low Window stock has been released in SR lined Olive Green, BR Crimson and Cream and also BR(s) Green, whilst the High Window stock has so far only appeared in SR Lined Olive Green.
