As sleek as ever, as its Suede Green colour scheme suggests, our SS Jaguar 2.5 Litre saloon glides in, making its fifth appearance in 1:148 scale. No doubt our Jaguar enthusiasts have already snapped up the model which has appeared in both 1:43rd and 1:76 scale over the years and in this colour scheme too. Now it is here again for the benefit of small scale collectors.
Our SS Jaguar made its real life debut as far back as 1935 in the elegant surroundings of the Mayfair Hotel in London when William Lyons unveiled the first car to carry the Jaguar name – history in the making. Not only that but it was available at a surprisingly low cost of £395 to the Jaguar followers of the day. Built as a four-door saloon with the spare wheel housed on the side of the long bonnet, the car also featured a sunroof, running boards and ‘suicide’ doors
Our deep green SS Jaguar is complemented with lighter green interior moulding including the seats, door panels, floor and carpets. The steering wheel is black. The exterior paintwork is complemented with a black roof panel and chrome to bumpers, radiator grille and window frames. The large headlamps are also chrome, placed at the top and bottom of the chrome plated radiator. Registered GKJ 496, the fine detailing of this model includes dark green wheels with chrome centres and a silver strip running along the side of the body beneath the windows.
