We announce an Exclusive Bachman 00 gauge Class 170 in CrossCountry Trains ‘Pride’ livery.

CrossCountry Trains currently operate 29 Class 170 Turbostars (seven two-car and 22 three-car) on services between Cardiff Central and Nottingham, and between Birmingham, Leicester, and Stansted Airport. These units were obtained from Central Trains in 2007 and refurbished in 2008.
Class 170 618 received a CrossCountry Trains Pride-themed livery in May 2024 in order to show the operators continued support of the LGBT+ community.
The Kernow Model Rail Centre Exclusive highly detailed model in 00 gauge in CrossCountry Trains ‘Pride-themed’ livery is being produced for KMRC by Bachmann Europe using their totally new tooling announced in April. The highly detailed 2-car diesel multiple unit models feature: low profile drive unit in each car to provide invisible drive to the inner bogie of each car via a diecast metal gearbox which drives both axles on the bogie.

The primary Driving vehicle houses the Plux22 DCC Decoder socket and this is accessed through a removable panel in the underframe negating any need to remove the bodyshell. The primary vehicle couples to the secondary driving car and any trailer vehicles using conductive couplings with integral close coupling mechanisms, so a single DCC decoder operates the entire unit whilst retaining full functionality and close coupling.
A full and comprehensive suite of lighting includes directional lights which can be switched between day and night mode, and the lights can be turned off at either end for when the units are working in multiple. Passenger saloon lighting is included along with illuminated panels at either end. DCC users can go further and operate the cab lights – each cab light is controlled by a separate function – and the door interlock lights for prototypical operations during station stops.

The KMRC Exclusive class are available as DCC Ready £429.99 with a Plux22 DCC decoder socket and SOUND FITTED models, £499.99, are pre-fitted with an ESU Loksound V5DCC sound decoder.
The two versions available, to pre- order, due Q1 2027, are as below:
35-627Z Bachmann Class 170 3-Car DMU 170618 CrossCountry Trains ‘Pride’
35-627ZSF Bachmann Class 170 3-Car DMU 170618 CrossCountry Trains ‘Pride’ DCC sound
Chris Trerise, Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to announce a model utilising Bachmann’s very latest Class 170 tooling in CrossCountry Trains’ first-ever Pride-liveried train. We are proud to bring this striking livery model to market to highlight the diversity across all communities and modellers alike.”
