Ahead of the event, Bachmann had already announced new tooling projects for its EFE Rail range with models of the Class 74 Electro-Diesel Locomotive, a prototype that has never before been produced as a mainstream ready to run model in OO scale. Today, details were published of the first five models to be released. As well as
the Class 74, Bachmann unveiled new tooling for it Bachmann Branchline OO Scale range, with two new Bulleid Coaches added to the lineup depicting the muchrequested Diagram 2406 Brake Composite Corridor and the Diagram 2017 Third Open. A range of liveries for these new models have been confirmed, alongside a further three models in the long-lived BR (SR) Green livery which form a prototypical 3-coach ‘L Set’ as commonly found working on the Southern Region.
For the modern scene, the highly acclaimed Bachmann Branchline Class 350 and 450 ‘Desiro’ Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) make a welcome return to the range and will be available with SOUND FITTED for the first time. Models in the liveries of current operators London Northwestern Railway and South Western Railway will be released, as well as a Class 350 in First TransPennine Express colours. Further versions of the new BR Mk1 coach types the First Open and Brake Second Open, along with the first appearance of the Restaurant Buffet Refurbished, will be released during 2025 in new liveries including InterCity and West Highland Line Green & Cream.
The Graham Farish N Scale range welcomes new editions of the popular GWR Class 64XX Pannier Tank, ideal partners to the brand’s recently released Hawksworth Auto-Trailers, while the first of several new N scale Class 47s for 2025 have been announced starting with a trio in Sectorisation liveries. Each of the new models takes advantage of the recently upgraded tooling suite for the Graham Farish Class 47 and includes optional SOUND FITTED. New rolling stock additions see the long-lived VGA Vans return in a selection of liveries, alongside the BR Mk1 NBA High Security Brake Gangwayed Coaches or ‘Super BGs’ to complement recent locomotive releases by Graham Farish.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale, Bachmann has partnered up with Ixion Model Railways to bring their award-winning O Scale Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 Tank Locomotive to the EFE Rail range, becoming the brand’s first O Scale Steam Locomotive.
There are new models for the EFE Road range of 1:76 (OO) Scale Diecast Buses too, with the previously announced Leyland Atlantean Open Top ‘Sea Dogs’ set for release in 2025, and with exciting new versions joining the pair of previously announced models.
The Bachmann Scenecraft range of hand finished, highly detailed ready to use buildings and accessories is enhanced with an extraordinary OO Scale model of the Goliath Steam Gantry Crane. Further new OO scale models include a South Eastern Station, March East Junction Signal Box, and several smaller essential items like an
Electrical Substation and the modern Relocatable Equipment Building. New Scenecraft models will be available in N scale too, including the Stone Waiting Room, GCR Mess Room, Weighbridge and a Covered Metal Footbridge.
To coincide with Railway 200, the celebration of 200 years since the first passenger train ran on the Stockton & Darlington Railway (S&DR), Bachmann today launched its new Railway Celebrations range. 2025 is not the first time that grand festivities have been held to mark significant milestones in the age of the train, and the Railway Celebrations range will showcase locomotives and rolling stock that gained notoriety during anniversary events or that have a strong connection to the Stockton & Darlington area, being the birthplace of the modern railway. The first OO Scale models to feature in this range include the LNWR G2 No. 9446 which participated in the 1925 celebrations marking the centenary of the opening of the S&DR, and the 57XX Pannier Tank No. 7752 which took part in the 1975 cavalcade at Shildon to mark the 150th anniversary.
