The Class 66 is the most numerous freight locomotive on the British railway network and our latest run features 66719 ‘Metro-Land’ in GB Railfreight and Metronet blue and orange livery. Featuring a mighty five pole motor, directional lighting, hefty diecast chassis, and accurate tooling to depict a low emission subclass, this ‘shed’ would like right at home on any modern image layout. This latest run of TT Class 66’s feature an altered wheel profile to maximise smooth running characteristics, and an adjusted kinematic coupling arm to improve the locos ability to pull rolling stock around 2nd radius curves.

History:
When British Rail was privatised, English Welsh & Scottish Railways (EWS) inherited a fleet of 1,600 mainly diesel locomotives that had an average age of 30 years. The arrival of the North-American built Class 66 provided a solution to modern heavy freight requirements when it first landed on UK shores for testing in June 1998. Since then, orders for 480 new ‘Sheds’ have been placed by UK-based operators and the type has become a dominant force on the nation’s network. No. 66719 is one of five low-emission locomotives delivered in April 2006 for use on GBRf’s Metronet/Transport for London contracts.
