76FT1005 Oxford Diecast Ford Transit Mk1 Van - British Rail.

Ford of Europe started manufacturing the Ford Transit in 1965 and this model of their first variant the Mk 1 from that period is registered UAR 337F from 1967. Decorated in the British Rail yellow livery of the day, the van carries the Double Arrow logo in red on both sides as well as on the back of the vehicle, with British Rail printed in black. The van interior is also black.

In the 1960's the company wanted to create a more modern and efficient image, and they felt that yellow was a color that would be both eye-catching and memorable.

The yellow livery was first introduced in 1963, and it was applied to a variety of vehicles, including vans, trucks, and buses. The yellow vans were particularly popular with children, who often referred to them as "banana vans."

The yellow livery was discontinued in the early 1990s.

This is a 1:76 (00) scale model that comes on a plinth with a clear case lid and Oxford wrap. The model can be removed from the plinth for display purposes.
