Concrete track has been around on the railway system for many years, and as the cost of traditional wooden sleepers escalates, the use of concrete (and for that matter, steel) as the material of choice for sleepers on today’s railway network has become the norm. So it is timely that the long-awaited Code 75 ‘finescale’ concrete sleeper flexible track has now been released.  

This new track features some excellent detail: the distinct angular profile of the modern concrete sleeper has been well represented, as has the exquisitely fine Pandrol rail clip detail, something that is not easy to accurately produce, and demonstrates the tool-makers skill to perfection. Suitable for the ‘modern’ period, certainly for layouts in the period 1980s and 90s, to the present, this track brings the PECO track range right up to date. But this development does not stop here. PECO have also committed to producing a range of concrete sleeper turnouts, the tooling of which starts shortly.

For the modeller of the current, and recent, scene, the availability of this new track system will be very welcome.
