TT4118 Hornby Mk2E Tourist Second Open TSO Coach - M5801 - Intercity Executive

New release - expected 3rd Quarter 2027

Utilising the existing highly detailed TT:120 Mk2E model, Hornby are delighted to present a further run of these coaches in the InterCity Executive livery of the 1980’s.
The British Railway Mk2E and MK2F were the final development of the Mk2 coach family and were conceived to operate on some of the longest distance trains running across the British network. They are widely considered as one of the best coach vehicles built by BR, owing to their comfort even at high speeds. These coaches are well suited for accompanying our range of TT:120 diesel locomotives like the Class 37, 47 and 50, and would even run in mixed rakes with other Mk2’s like those painted in BR Blue & Grey!
TT4118 depicts No.M5801 Tourist Second Open in InterCity Executive livery.

History:
Like all Mk2 coaches, the Mk2D had a semi-integral construction, designed to give more strength than the Mk1 carriage in the event of an accident. The ‘TSO’ was the Tourist Second Open, also known as a Tourist Standard Open from 1987, and had 2+2 seating either side of a central aisle, with a combined pressure ventilation/air conditioning system.
