KMRC Locomotive LSWR 0298 Class Beattie Well Tank - OO Gauge

KMRC Locomotive LSWR 0298 Class Beattie Well Tank - OO Gauge

The LSWR 0298 Class Beattie Well Tank was a our first Exclusive locomotive (and the first ever retailer locomotive commission!). It still remains our highest volume produced model!

We originally commissioned Dapol to produce on our behalf the LSWR (SR) 0298 Class Beattie Well Tank 2-4-0WT in OO gauge.
They are 2-4-0WTs, originally built between 1863 and 1875 for use on passenger services in the suburbs of London.  Three locomotives, 298, 314 and 329 were transferred to the Bodmin and Wadebridge Railway in 1895, which was one of the earliest railways in Cornwall and isolated from the main LSWR network until that year. These three which were rebuilt in the 1930s becoming 3298 (May 1933), 3314 (November 1936) and 3329 (September 1935) 3329 differed from the other two as it had square splashers (as pictured above). They remained in service because of the sharp curves of that railway's freight branch to Wenford Bridge, which carried China clay traffic to the main line. They numbered 30585 (3314) 30586 (3329) and 30587 (3298) by British railways and were finally withdrawn in 1962.

We produce the models, from our owned tooling, direct with the factory in China. This model was initially designed using the very accurate ‘Laser’ scanning technology with the original scan taking place at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in 2009.
