There is evidence that in some situations double slips were used extensively. Modellers will be able to take full advantage of this feature on their layouts for the very same reasons that the real railroads needed them.
WORLD LEADING TRACKAGE SYSTEM FOR NORTH AMERICAN MODELLING
Our ""83 Line"" trackage system probably rates as one of the most accurate available to HO modellers the world over. The models feature authentic tie (sleeper) sizes and spacings, plus a very fine representation of the rail spike fastenings. The design is scaled down from A.R.E.A. (American Railway Engineering Association) prototype drawings and conforms to N.M.R.A. standards, with a choice of Insulfrog & Electrofrog formats. However, the modeller can choose to electrify the frog and wing rails by connecting the pre-welded wires as shown on the diagram below. To change polarity the modeller can use our PL-13 or PL-15 change-over switch/microswitch, or the SmartSwitch SmartFrog PLS-130.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0943/3048/7164/files/Image11458122464_fd9e64ec-3b76-458b-8933-d8f55bc45ee7.jpg?v=1786092934
