Up to 1955 vans were fitted with oil lubricated axle boxes, later roller bearing axle boxes were fitted as stand and from 1957 Oleo self-contained pneumatic buffers replaced the spindle type. In all 4632 were produced for British Railways at Darlington works with a final lot at Ashford. Lot 3402 referred to the construction of six standard goods vans to BR Diagram 1\/507 for London Transport in 1962.
