Due to the terrain across Exmoor the 19 mile long line, between its own station at Lynton, also serving Lynmouth, and the London and South Western Railway’s Barnstaple Town station. was built to 1ft 11 ½ inch narrow gauge. In 1923, the L\u0026amp;B was taken over by the Southern Railway, and eventually closed in September 1935.\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003eThe Lynton engine shed was first built with the opening of the line but was altered in 1909 with the shed eves altered, doors widened and also extended. The increased length enabled it to accommodate a full-length L\u0026amp;B coach. The shed's side had wooden battens fitted and from 1908 enamel signs were placed secured to them.\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003eThe Lynton concrete coaling stage platform was built to the south of the engine in approximately 1924.\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003eThe KMRC Exclusive Scenecraft Lynton Engine shed and separately available but complementary Coal Stage have been produced by Bachmann.
