The 4 wheel hopper wagons provided an increased payload over the types they replaced and were operated by Associated British Maltsters Ltd. And Scottish Malt Distillers. At first bold and colourful advertising boards were carried on the sides of wagons, but these were soon removed leaving just the brown livery, although some were later painted into the more eye catching ‘Grainflow’ scheme of green and grey.
