Designed by Oliver Bulleid for the Southern Railway the locomotives did not appear until after Nationalisation. 10201 and 10202 were built at Ashford Works in 1950 with 10203 being built at Brighton Works in 1954. The diesel engine and transmission was supplied by English Electric.
These prototypes had a relatively short life, all being withdrawn at the end of 1963. They had worked throughout the Southern Region and also had a short time on the London Midland Region during the mid 1950s. All three were cut up in 1968.
As with our D6xx Warship model we are working from drawings of the original locomotives. The tooling will allow for the differences between 10201 / 2 and the uprated 10203.
The models will be priced at £139.99 and delivery is expected by the end of 2012. The models will be produced by Dapol on our behalf using tools owned by Kernow Model Rail Centre. Production of this model is scheduled to follow the O2 Steam Locomotive.
The models will be to the same standard as the D6xx Warship.
We have announced this particular model a little earlier than we had intended to ensure that we do not have any duplication of effort with any other party.
No deposits are required and no funds are taken from debit or credit cards until we are ready to send the models.
